My name is Nicholas Grant, and I am a descendant of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. I was raised in Tacoma, Washington, but at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the decision to move to Montana in search of a better opportunity for myself and a deeper connection to who I am.
That move became more than just a change in location it became a way for me to reconnect with my culture, my traditions, and my community. Being in Montana helped ground me and gave me a stronger understanding of my identity and the importance of carrying those teachings forward.
In 2020, I began attending Salish Kootenai College, where I focused on Fine Arts and Digital Design. In 2023, I graduated with my Associate degree. My work is shaped by my personal journey, my cultural roots, and my desire to create art that reflects both where I come from and where I am going.
